Add pop-up search box that points to results on another page

Hi, wondering if the above is possible. I would like that on clicking the button, a search box opens (see attached mock-up) where the user can type in a search term, click and have another page open with the results. The target page already has a grid of items that would be filtered based on the sought term/word. Wondering if the coding of the search can be entered in the search box's back-end to enable the search so that the results are already filtered in the destination page.

Please let me know. Perhaps using JS? I'm not a programmer so...
