Hi
I have noticed that many visitors see 2 buttons on the screen that should not be there. This occurs on desktop computers and smartphones. On my computer and smartphone, I don't see these buttons, and it should be the case everywhere. I use Chrome and many visitors also use Chrome and yet they see 2 buttons they shouldn't see. Can this be adjusted or prevented?

Kind regards,
André

  • Hey Andre ,

Thanks for the screenshots and letting us know! That helped us a lot understanding the issue.

I don't think your end-users are actually seeing those buttons. These menu-buttons are rendered invisible in the background.

We think Hotjar sees the menu-button and records it, but doesn't fully replicate the CSS correctly as they are not visible on the clients side.

I'm sorry for the confusion, perhaps we can change some things on our side to make sure Hotjar doesnt record the button when it's not being rendered.

Let me know if this explains it all and if you have any further questions 🙂

Hey Andre,

Thanks for opening this topic!

I have just checked your site and did not see any second button(s). Did you manage to resolve the issue?

If so, can you let us know how we can replicate it? Then we can check what we can do to fix this.

Hope to hear from you soon 🙂

Hi Jasper,
Thanks for your kind reply.

The problem has not been resolved. I have no way to replicate it. I noticed this problem because i use Hotjar on our website. The screenshots there show the 2 buttons regularly (see screenshot). And what strikes me is that on desktop computers and smartphones, it is not going well. Operating system or Windows/OSX doesn't seem to matter. That also seems to make this problem so elusive.

Thanks for your help!
Kind regards,
André

    Hi Jasper,

I was already hoping it was because of Hotjar and that visitors (thankfully) don't notice anything about this. It's nice that you confirm this.
As far as I'm concerned, nothing needs to be changed on Hotjar's side. Now that I know the buttons are not visible to visitors, it doesn't bother me anymore.

Thanks for your kind response Jasper!
